Empathic Family Connections workshop
LTSFA's EPIC Parenting Initiative continues to offer workshops and resources for families.
A Value Based Workshop for Families
What if the most powerful thing you could give your child isn't a rule, but a strong sense of self?
That was one of the most powerful insights from the Empathic Family Connections workshop, hosted by Love to Share Foundation America (LTSFA) through their EPIC Parenting Initiative.
Speakers Deepak Vinod and Dinesh Ramanan led an engaging, interactive session that reframed parenting not as a biological duty, but as a sacred spiritual responsibility and one of the greatest opportunities for personal growth.
Some key takeaways:
✅ Values are transferred through connection, not correction
✅ A child's character is their internal compass, shaping decisions around relationships, integrity, and technology
✅ Everyday moments like car rides, household chores, and mealtimes are opportunities for deep connection and value transfer
✅ Linking actions to who a child is at their core rather than to authority builds intrinsic motivation
✅ Parenting is a lifelong learning journey for the child and the parent alike
The workshop drew participants from around the world, reflecting a growing global community of parents committed to raising children grounded in empathy, purpose, and values.
A big thank you to the organizing team at LTSFA and to all the participants who brought their openness and experiences to the conversation.

Cholesterol Screening Clinics
Free cholesterol labs in greater Houston area.
Houston, TX
Manvel, TX — The Houston chapter of Love to Share Foundation continues its commitment to community health by hosting free monthly cholesterol screening clinics for residents in the greater Houston area. The clinics are held at Sri Aishwarya Srinivasa Perumal Temple in Manvel, Texas, providing an accessible opportunity for individuals to monitor their cholesterol levels and maintain awareness of their cardiovascular health.
Each clinic typically runs for two to three hours over a weekend and welcomes community members who wish to check their cholesterol levels at no cost. Many participants attend regularly, making the screenings part of their routine health monitoring. Organizers note that these recurring visits help individuals stay proactive about their health and track changes in their cholesterol over time.
Two clinics were recently conducted on January 31, 2026, and February 28, 2026, drawing members of the local community who took advantage of the free service. Volunteers from the foundation helped facilitate the screenings and guide participants through the process, ensuring that the clinics ran smoothly.
The initiative reflects the foundation’s broader mission of promoting preventive healthcare and making basic health services more accessible to the community. By offering regular screenings in a familiar and convenient setting, the Houston chapter aims to encourage early detection and awareness of potential health issues related to cholesterol.
Organizers plan to continue holding these clinics monthly, welcoming returning participants as well as new members of the community interested in monitoring their health.

What is Diabetes?
A metabolic condition caused by insufficient insulin production or poor insulin sensitivity
Results in elevated blood glucose levels — diagnosed as diabetes mellitus
Managed through both medication and nutrition
The 3 Key Macronutrients
Carbohydrates — break down into simple sugars/glucose; primary fuel for the body
Protein — supports muscle building, tissue repair, and wear & tear
Fat — provides insulation and concentrated calories
How Glucose Works in the Body
Insulin (produced by the pancreas) uses glucose to power all bodily activities. Dietary carbs are stored in the liver and muscles as glycogen. When carbs are avoided long-term, the body draws on glycogen stores for energy. The Diabetes MyPlate Method (see plate diagram)
½ plate → Non-starchy vegetables & fruits (broccoli, spinach, carrots, berries, apple)
¼ plate → Lean protein (chicken, fish, legumes/dal, tofu, lean meat)
¼ plate → Carb foods (rice, roti, pasta, noodles)
+ Non-caloric beverage (water, unsweetened tea/coffee)

Thanks to the generosity of neighbors across the region, nearly 300 toys were collected and donated to bring smiles and joy to children and families in need. The initiative was led by a dedicated team of volunteers—Prahlad Shankar, Aditya Rajesh, Dhruv Iyer, Anirvedh Ameti, Adharv Ameti, Gurudas Muthukaruppan, and Priyadharshini Muthukaruppan—who coordinated the collection, organization, and delivery of the donated gifts.
The toys were distributed to several local organizations serving families across the region, including:
KidVantage
Friends of Youth
Bethlehem Place
FamilyWorks
Each organization plays a vital role in supporting children and families facing economic challenges, and the donations helped ensure that more families experienced warmth and joy during the season.
The success of this drive stands as a testament to what is possible when community members unite with compassion and purpose. While the toys brought immediate smiles, the greater gift was the reminder that kindness multiplies when shared.
