LTSFA Math Tutorials
Attendance, Tuition, No-Show, Holiday & Parent Participation Policy
LTSFA Math Tutorials is a volunteer-supported program designed to provide students with quality, affordable math instruction in a supportive and focused learning environment. To ensure consistency and fairness for all families, the following policies apply to all students enrolled in the program.
1. Attendance & No-Show Policy
Tutorial sessions are scheduled in advance based on instructor and volunteer availability.
Students are expected to attend all scheduled sessions.
Classes missed for any reason, including school events, illness, travel, family commitments, or personal conflicts, cannot be rescheduled or made up.
No refunds, credits, or makeup classes will be provided for missed sessions.
LTSFA is unable to provide substitute or additional sessions for individual student absences.
2. Monthly Tuition & Payment
The tuition for LTSFA Math Tutorials is $120 per month.
Tuition is charged on a monthly basis and is not calculated per class or according to the number of sessions attended.
The monthly fee reserves the student's place in the program and helps support the continuity of instruction and program operations.
Monthly tuition is due at the beginning of each month and must be paid no later than the 5th of the month.
Tuition is heavily subsidized and covers only a portion of the instructional and operational costs of the program.
Missed classes do not result in a reduction, refund, or credit toward future tuition.
Enrollment constitutes acceptance of the monthly tuition obligation.
3. Holiday Sessions
In months that include major school or public holidays, LTSFA may designate one scheduled tutorial session as a program holiday.
Families will be notified in advance when a session is designated as a holiday.
Monthly tuition will remain unchanged because the program fee is based on monthly enrollment rather than a per-class calculation.
If additional program closures are necessary, LTSFA will communicate them to families as early as reasonably possible.
4. Volunteer-Led Program
LTSFA Math Tutorials are supported by volunteer instructors and coordinators.
Because the program operates with limited volunteer and financial resources, LTSFA is currently unable to guarantee:
Backup instructors
Substitute classes
Additional sessions
Make-up sessions due to individual student absences
We appreciate the understanding and flexibility of families in supporting this volunteer-led program.
5. Parent Presence & Participation During Class
LTSFA deeply values parent involvement and strongly believes that parent learning, encouragement, and daily academic support at home play an important role in a child's progress.
At the same time, maintaining a focused and effective learning environment during live instruction is essential.
Therefore:
Parents/guardians are generally not expected to remain in or participate in live tutorial sessions.
If a parent/guardian is specifically invited or permitted by the instructor to observe a class, they are expected to remain silent observers.
During class, the instructor will determine the pace, instructional approach, activities, breaks, and student participation.
Parents are asked not to provide real-time instructional directions or prompts to their child during the session.
This includes prompting a child to take a water or bathroom break, directing a child on when to work independently, or advising the tutor on when to demonstrate or explain a problem.
While these interventions are well-intentioned and come from a place of care, they can unintentionally interrupt the flow of instruction and affect the tutor-student dynamic.
Questions, feedback, concerns, or suggestions should be communicated after class or through the designated LTSFA communication channel.
If the instructor determines that parent presence is affecting the learning environment, the parent/guardian may be asked to discontinue observing the session.
Our goal is to help students develop independence, confidence, problem-solving skills, and a productive relationship with their instructor.
6. Policy Communication
This policy applies to all current and future students enrolled in LTSFA Math Tutorials.
The policy will be provided to families at the time of enrollment. Any significant changes to the policy will be communicated to enrolled families.
7. Exceptional Circumstances
LTSFA intends to apply these policies consistently and fairly to all students.
However, LTSFA reserves the right to review genuine exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis at its discretion.
Any exception granted in an individual situation should not be interpreted as a change to the general policy or as a guarantee that the same exception will be granted in the future.
8. Parent/Guardian Acknowledgment & Agreement
By enrolling a student in LTSFA Math Tutorials, the parent/guardian confirms that they have:
Carefully read and reviewed this policy;
Had an opportunity to ask questions or seek clarification;
Understood the attendance, no-show, tuition, payment, holiday, volunteer program, and parent participation policies; and
Agreed to comply with all policies outlined above.
Enrollment constitutes acceptance of these policies.
