One Among The Stars

LAVANYA MAHESH, Raleigh, North Carolina

Lavanya shares how volunteering has allowed her to serve with intention and a deeper sense of purpose.

I have always been inspired by Mother Teresa’s words: “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” LTSFA has been an incredible platform that has allowed me to serve with intention and a deeper sense of purpose. I’ve been grateful for several opportunities to be able to serve our local communities through initiatives - like Ronald McDonald House, Seasonal Senior Home volunteering, and the Food Bank. Small fundraising events, such as Family Yoga and creating Navaratri dolls, motivated me to explore new ways to connect with diverse populations.

After attending the Neurodivergence program with LTSFA earlier in 2025, I felt strongly encouraged to engage with children with special needs. This led me to collaborate with Miracle League, helping our youth connect with local special needs kids. Finally, one of the most rewarding experiences was working recently in the local university with the high school students in our community who have special needs—mentoring them as they navigate the corporate world and develop real-life skills.

I am grateful for every opportunity to make a difference, no matter how small, and look forward to continuing this journey of love and service.
